I styled our home 15 years ago so, when I was preparing it for sale last year, it was really important that the bathrooms and powder room reflected today’s style sensibilities.
In the powder room I wanted to avoid the expense of starting from scratch so, instead of replacing the entire vanity, Granite Transformations replaced the bench top, doors and side panel. The result is what looks like brand new cabinetry but is in fact a simple resurfacing job! Introducing a new palette of pinks and greens to the colour scheme, and replacing the fishpond outside the window with an array of beautiful greenery, helped lift the look of the powder room to a whole new level. The prints by Vanessa Hall and Mimi Morrissy were the finishing touch.
In the en suite Granite Transformations effected a very simple transformation, adding a contrasting marble-effect splash to the vanity back that, in conjunction with the colour scheme and cabinetry lines, creates an elegant Art Deco feel. Elegant toiletries and soaps completed the look.
In the context of today’s home décor trends, the family bathroom might look a touch daggy and dated, but back when we had it installed it was a perfect – and functional – space for growing kids.
Granite Transformations installed Cararra bench tops from their Trascenda range and replaced the doors and panels of the vanity to transform the space from beach house bathroom style to a family bathroom that works in with the home styling popular today. The attention to detail and finish of the marble-look Granite Transformations vanity makes it look as if it has always been there! I finished the room with a shower screen, artworks, and accessories to really elevate the look.
