Alex and Cathy gave me a brief to create an open plan living space with a minimal colour palette, so texture became important. All surfaces need some texture to make it feel warm, inviting and playful. Texture calls for your attention and can be integrated through colour, a sculpture or even a view.
The rich raspberry colour in the beautiful print by Vanessa Hall was the perfect subject. An expansive wall, such as in this dining room, was key to giving the space a sense of character. By using the same print, and turning one upside down, I was able to fill the wall with movement, texture and colour, giving it a striking focal point.
