From day one, Cathy and Alex prioritised a white, sleek kitchen with clean surfaces as being integral to the modernisation of their home, and of course an oven that worked was high on their list as well!
After I moved the kitchen into what was the rumpus room, I realised that the new Accent Windows sliding doors would be shielded by the new pergola, and that white was definitely the way to go to reflect the light. I chose Taubmans ‘Akimbo’ on the ceiling, doors and trims and ‘Gazebo White’ on the walls as a base in this design.
To stop the space feeling like a big, white modernist box, I made sure texture came into play with a warm marble-look Quarrie Stone caesarstone benchtop and a splashback with a raised pattern in the Perini Tiles. This fine texture, also evident in the Perini Tiles flooring, created relief from the stark white colour and strong linear lines in The Kitchen Group cabinetry. Stainless steel elements were added with the Harvey Norman Westinghouse fridge/freezer, Swedia sink and accessories and Blanco appliances.
The black MRD Home bar stools add contrast to the white theme of the kitchen, and the Custom Lighting rectangle pendant light, whilst blending with the sharpness and brightness of the kitchen, throws light into the textured features of this room and adds the touch of bling and glamour that is a signature touch in this renovation.
