Creating a focal point when you have a gorgeous bay window is a must. However, there was so much going on in the dining room with the fireplace, wallpaper and cocktail area, that I wanted the bay windows to become a secondary focal point, a place to sit and ponder rather than giving that instant wow factor.
The Mokum curtain fabric has a very soft gold shimmer to the satin finish and I repositioned the existing chandelier from the hallway and master bedroom and used them as feature lights in the corner of the room, in front of the curtains. The crystal cut shapes and beads glimmer in the front of the candle globes and put a beautiful soft glow to the corner of the room.
The plush Mokum fabric in the velvet cushions is an added touch of shimmer and glamour to this part of the room.
Creating boldness with colour isn’t always about the strength of the colour, but the texture of the surface it is playing with.
And when the party gets too much you can always close the curtains and have you own individual party booth on the Daybed. Fittingly the daybed from my Molmic Elegant Muse collection is named after Elizabeth Taylor, who was quite the party animal herself!
