I love to travel so birthday month is the perfect opportunity to indulge my passion. And, what could be more indulgent than jetting off to Madrid to see Sam Smith in concert? Probably not a lot to be honest! That was my birthday gift to myself and I’m very much looking forward to the show when I head to Europe next month for a well-earned break with my son Jess. We’ll also be heading to Barcelona to wander the streets and admire Anton Gaudi’s breathtaking architectural works. If you recall, I got to visit the Venetian glass factory that made glass tiles for Gaudi during my Venice trip a couple of years ago, and I have a career-long love affair with his designs as he featured prominently during my interior design studies, so we’ll call this part of the trip research and consider the breathtaking beauty of it all a nice little side benefit! <Link to story.>
Another stop on the trip is Valencia, where we’ll be staying with former Selling Houses Australia producer Amanda. I’m so looking forward to being a local and exploring the city with other locals for a few days.
Then it’s off to Marrakech – a dream trip and one of my ultimate bucket list destinations – to look at their beautiful tiles and ceramics, soak up the atmosphere in the souks, take in the works of artisans and stroll through their beautiful gardens. Heads up! You can expect a strong streak of Moroccan influence in any interiors I work on for the next 12 months! Bon Voyage!
