The contestants revealed their kids’ rooms on The Block this week. Which rooms transported you back to your childhood?
Steph & Gian’s research paid off and their attention to detail was exquisite in both rooms this week. They balanced sophistication, style, and fun perfectly. Highlights for me, that divine swing chair, the colour palette, and the obvious time and effort they put into building these 10-worthy rooms earned them their win this week.
Leah & Ash infused their ‘climbing room’ with joy, fun, and energy with a bright colour palette that would appeal to girls and boys equally. Their fun-infused ‘performance room’ filled me with joy. I always emphasise the importance of creating an emotional connection for the buyers, and they delivered that in spades.
Kristy & Brett’s room was cute and sophisticated in equal measure. I loved the jungle decal on the cabinetry doors, and how much fun was the bed, and that colouring-in wall? I loved their use of the wallpaper on the wall and ceiling – gorgeous and feminine. It’s such a shame the join above the bed was so obviously misaligned.
Eliza & Liberty gave us gorgeous colour, a sensational mural, and huge emotional connection thanks to Novali’s gorgeous Bee Kind artwork. Their treehouse mural on the wardrobes, and the reading nook created instant impact in their second room and they achieved a tremendous amount with careful use of their budget.
Leslie & Kyle’s ‘basketball room’ was a departure from their traditional curvy approach, but I thought that was fine for a kid’s room. However, the theming was very niche and their styling fell way short of what buyers will expect to see in a multi-million dollar home. Their second room gave us the curves we’ve come to expect from house 1, with a gender-agnostic approach for better buyer appeal.
