What does a girl have to do to get a decent bedside table? After this week, sadly, I’m none the wiser. Luckily there was plenty to take my mind off it in this week’s reveals!
Steph & Gian gave us a billionaire’s walk-in. Everything about it screamed luxe in size & scale, the vast island bench and marble. Walking into their cathedral-like master bedroom was a religious experience. Their lighting was faultless, and Steph’s styling belies her years. This week they gave us the dream for a deserved win.
Kirsty & Brett gave us a well-planned master bedroom with the bed, fireplace, plinth, TV, rug, and lighting plan all perfectly positioned. I did find the tiny bedsides baffling, even if there are no drawers, the scale of this is wrong. Their walk-in was perfectly proportioned, and their spaces hit the perfect pitch for the real estate market they’ll be pitching to on auction day.
Leah & Ash were magicians to pull off a scalloped ceiling in a week. Their lighting plan won my heart by beautifully highlighting the architectural features. The room was cavernous and would benefit from some more furniture. The styling didn’t match the grandness of the ceiling. I loved the cabinetry & storage in their walk-in, but their paint colour choice was claustrophobic and they ran out of time to complete their lighting and painting.
Eliza & Liberty’s artwork stopped me in my tracks – it was hot! I also loved their pendant lights and their cozy fireplace. They followed this week’s pattern with underwhelming bedsides. Their wardrobe was spacious and functional, and got a big tick from me. I’d like to see them introduce some new shades to the colour palette throughout the house so it doesn’t end up feeling same-y and a little 2000.
Leslie & Kyle tried to give us wow factor with their LED & textured plaster bedhead, but I wasn’t sold. Their bedside tables were tiny, lacked bedside lamps, and the downlights above the bed offered zero functionality. The small attached lounge area felt awkward & didn’t add to the room. Of course, I loved the plentiful storage in the walk-in, but the space was restrictive & they need to up the functionality across both spaces to drive buyer appeal.
