With season 9 of Selling Houses Australia starting today I’m taking the opportunity to pick the brains of some of my amazing colleagues in the design and arts industry.
Today’s topic is favourite colour combinations. If you’ve read Design With Colour and Style you’ll know I’m partial to turquoise, teal, black and white.
I’d love to get your thoughts on each week’s topics, either in the comments section at the bottom of the articles, or by tagging me in your Tweets @ShaynnaBlaze, or on my Facebook page, but in the meantime, let’s throw it over to my panel of experts…
My favourite colour combination is…
Darren Palmer, Interior Designer:
…At the moment it’s blush, navy, grey, oak and white – but throw in some mustard or brass or gold for good measure.
Kate St James, Interior Designer and Editor in Chief: Universal Magazines:
…I’ve always had a penchant for red, but this year it’s all about blue/greens and crisp white.
Look at Taubmans French Riviera (I recently painted the front door of my holiday home this colour); it’s stunning.
Neale Whittaker, Editor in chief, Vogue Living:
…Orange and navy blue, but it’s a strong combo so a little goes a long way. I love the richness of the blue against the vibrancy of the orange. The colours remind me of India and Morocco, two cultures that have always inspired me.
Miriam Fanning, Founding Principal, Mim Design:
…My favourite colour combination at the moment is electric blue, tan, black with a gold accent.
This Celine bag says it all.
Colin & Justin, Interior Designers, Style commentators and world savvy Lifestyle gurus
…We really love the mix of woody timber tones (any genus) and stone – the warmth of the wood and the cold of the stone combine to create visual strength and integrity. This combination could be successfully delivered to your scheme as a vase or vessel or used as a kitchen door and counter combination.
Steve Cordony, Interior Stylist:
…Green, black and white. Its classic, chic and you can accent with other pops of colour from season to season to mix it up.
It provides a really strong ‘neutral’ base to add metallics such as brass and copper, and it works with different ‘looks’ from Hamptons to Boho chic.
Christopher Boots, Lighting Designer:
…White and gold.
Wilhelmina McCarroll, Zuster Design Director:
…My favourite colour combination is… it’s always been the same combination for me, I love a navy, emerald green, mustard and ruby. I love colours that have a richness to them and these together offer an interesting mix.
