On Monday 7th June on The Circle, Ch10 devoted a whole episode to all things ‘green’ and I was in to do a quick talk on green developments for your interiors.
I first touched on Bamboo. This renewable product can be made into flooring, furniture, insulation and even fabrics.
Bamboo flooring has a surface that is even tougher than your hardest hardwood (sorry, no other way to say it!). The amazing thing is it can be made into gorgeous soft textiles for you home. These fabrics by Verve from Grant Dorman, are a beautiful mixture of a linen feel base and velour patterns.
Lighting has been a big push for greening your home, especially incandescent globes will not be able to be bought by the end of 2010. A step up from the fluorescent globes are LED. They have 10,000 times the lighting time, do not give off any heat and globes can last 10-15 yrs. You might have moved out of your house before it is time to change your globes! These samples from
Gamma Illumination show that LED can be used in traditional downlights but also as feature strip lighting under cupboards, floors, walls – it is really limited by your imagination!
LED lights are stylish in looks as well as saving you money on your powerbills
