I know it’s hard to believe but every now and then I get to start a day at 10am & when you are fronted with the option of hanging around another hotel room, well going out to find some breakfast seems a much more inviting proposition. What helps me make a decision of where to stop?
1. It has to have decent food but, 2. if it doesn’t appeal visually I rarely end up eating there.
I walked 3 buildings down from where I was staying and looked down the long ‘barrel’ of The Establishment and the tall palms winked at me so I was in like a shot. A small but appealing menu and buffet, I spied tins of Tea2 and I settled in with my laptop for the next hour as I waited for my meeting.

Did I mention I get huffy if I end up with a tea bag instead of loose leaf?

How is this for a morning view? Even though the staff are still clanging spirit bottles in the background it is a calm & soothing place in the morning.

I love the mix of the glossy columns in the front room and the aged ones in the back. It's all about the layers.

The empty vast bar has an almost 'church' like presence about it.

More like an illuminated sculpture than a light fitting.

Dont forget to look up.

A lone chair to witness the morning George st traffic.

Easy to get to and just a short stroll from Circular Quay
