I’m always trying to look at different ways of doing things and in Mark’s bathroom I wanted to be clever with the Perini Tiles, but not have it cost the earth. The finished product looks pretty complex, but really it is just two different types of subway tiles (matt and gloss) in three different sizes, constructed in a blend of vertical and horizontal ways, to create a random pattern. See, I told you… simple!
Integrating the matt and gloss tiles is a deliberate design choice. The alternate finishes will reflect contrast tones in different light, giving the impression the tiles are of different colours – when in reality they are both white. The Taubmans dark brown all adds another tone element to the room and contrast to the tiles, that is both masculine, relaxed and adds a sophisticated touch. Laying tiles like this creates works of art in the room and visual fun in an otherwise dull space.
Mark’s bathroom is now the most luxurious room in the house.
