The colour purple has long been associated with spirituality and mindfulness so its appointment as colour of the year makes a lot of sense as we try to achieve equilibrium during the period of accelerated change and political instability we’re living through at the moment.

Amethyst is a classic example of the healing power of jeweled purple shades. Renowned for its healing powers physically and emotionally, the word Amethyst means ‘without drunkenness’ in Greek and in ancient times was believed to protect people from poisoning! Good to have next to your bed when you’ve had a big night, or if you don’t trust the person cooking for you!

Among amethysts’ other metaphysical powers are the ability balance chakras, combat insomnia, and deal with nervous system, blood and breathing issues.
